Humility

I don't understand how things got so twisted in the sense that some people today find being simple a sign of being poor.

It's common at least in Brazil to hear someone saying "that guy comes from a humble home", meaning that person didn't have access to good education or had no much in life (money, properties). Which makes no sense to me, first because it sounds almost like an apology. It depreciates humility as if it was not good enough to be humble or have less?? Second of all, humility in my mind doesn't lay over quality education, neither how little somebody have made it... but being less possessed by the things owned (No, do not confuse this statement with placing no value in what you have got).

Simplicity was considered sophistication for Leonardo da Vinci, and same for many engineers and architects responsible for today's IT advancements. I think I read in the past Coco Chanel (or Carolina Herrera, or another fashion icon who I can't even recall) saying the same about being classy, and Dalai Lama regarding spiritual growth.

Choosing going simple (being simple) can break you free, and change how you perceive things around, shaking you up until your values fall into places where they belong. Give it a try.

Peace out!
Mariana
